I went to my usual spot on the porch of the food pantry where the clients wait before they opened and visited with them. I was able to strike up a couple of good conversations about healthy eating and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. When I went inside I learned that the pantry serves 40 to 50 families per week. I plan on bringing my eggs Monday and stopping the following Saturday to meet some people that may come later.

Veterans Outreach has obtained a new building and I was helping demo the inside of the building for the new offices and the new food pantry, also we cleaned up the back of the land to park the new little houses for homeless Vets to live in so they can find work.

Today was a really great day! I helped out in a 3yr. old group with the same little girl that had the feeding tube and the healing tracheostomy, then I had the opportunity to help out with a little girl that had a serious condition (they were not sure of the diagnosis) where her muscles completely tensed up on her and she was not able to function on her own. She is almost 3 years old and she cannot speak, walk, focus on objects with her eyes, she has a feeding tube, and she has to be spoon fed as well. This poor little girl has multiple problems, such as Acid Reflux Disease and Epilepsy, not even counting her main problem (which with research on my part, I could not figure out what it was). She was definitely a more hands on serious case at Every Child's Place. It was so unfortunate to see how a little baby had to live like this. :( I learned a lot from this experience and I am continuing to do service work here to help them, and learn and gain more knowledge about the special needs kids and the healthy school going children that I encounter.

I really enjoy being around the kids. I came in during circle time. I'm impressed the kids know some sign language along with some Spanish with their colors. It was interesting to see them follow along.

It seems they are teaching a variety of communication techniques to the children. They are at the age where they absorb everything like a sponge.

We helped in the donation room at halo they wanted us to help organize the room since they are not accepting donations at this time because they have so much. We sorted out the toys to give to toys for tots we got rid of some of the clothing that would not be useful for them to donate to a thrift store we organized hats and scarfs that someone had knitted for them. It was interesting to see all the stuff people donate and where it is used we also were helped by 2 women that lived there it was interesting to talk to them and hear about there experiences. It was a very humbling experience and it makes you think of all the things you for granted.

Went to halo to meet with the director and to see what we could do to volunteer. We took a tour of the facility and met some of the people. It was sad to see all of the children there. They said this is the largest amount of homeless children they have had since the facility opened 11 years ago. It is nice that there is a nice place like halo they can come to to get help they have an outside play ground for the children and a daycare for the children.

It is amazing how much goes on in our community that we may not be aware of. I sure this facility will be quite emotional around the holding season.

I attended an orientation at Heartland Home Care and Hospice Kenosha business office for volunteers led by Liz Analla, the volunteer coordinator. I learned the role a volunteer plays when volunteering for hospice. There are volunteers used to provide companionship to a client, provide a relief period for the main caregivers, or vigil volunteers who provide a presence to people who are actively dying.

I took part in two 3 hour teams at the Hunger Task Force. It is amazing what people can do when they come together. The first team I worked with completed 840 boxes and the second team I worked with created 800 boxes. All these boxes will be available for the low income elderly in my community.

I went to Every Child's Place. I enjoyed being with the kids as usual. Seeing them vote was cute. I just wish I had been there at a better time, considering they were napping most of the time.
